Re: David Berglas - International Man of Mystery, Part Two

I first met David Berglas when I was 16 years old. I belonged to a youth club in Whitechapel, London and I used to do shows with a singing group called "The Brady Ramblers". The club was called Brady Boys Club. The Ramblers were led by Greville Janner who later became Lord Janner with a pe...

Don't forget the Royal Road to Card Magic annotations. I expect it will come out in 2018. It will be quite wonderful. I know the author personally and can confirm his genius in these matters.

Years and years and years and years ago I went into an agents office trying to get work. Starving magicians do that you know. Or at least they used to before they became computer geeks and lousy performers instead. The agent discussed card tricks and specifically Chan Canasta. And then out of the bl...

Aha! I see the Wilfrid Jonson reference has suddenly appeared by magic no doubt as a result of my remarks above. In that case I should give a little more information for those few of you who own "Mr Smith's Guide to Sleight of Hand". The trick in question is the "Six Coin Trick" ...

Re: Royal road to card magic

I think a lot of people came up with the idea independently just through noticing things when they performed but nobody actually pronounced it as a formal theory until Rick Johnson who possibly got the idea from reading what Monk Watson had to say. Wilfrid Jonson merely mentioned a certain way to pr...

Re: The greatest female magician I have ever seen!

I think she will ride this wave for a while. It should be good for a few years. Still, in the end the novelty wears off and no doubt a whole bunch of imitators will emerge. The trouble with putting all the eggs in one basket is that eggs, being eggs, will eventually break. Wise for her to think ahe...

Re: The greatest female magician I have ever seen!

Here's my question, though...can Riana ever stop doing the shtick? Let's say she gets tired of that particular style and just wants to be herself...would audiences reject her? I always wonder about performers who so define themselves by such a specific characterization - do they get sick of it? Coul...

1945. Same year as Monk Watson published his book. However, I have been in touch with Wilfrid Jonson in the spirit world and he claimed to have written it a few months earlier than Monk Watson. Besides it was a far better description than Watson's although he didn't give it an official name. He just...

I think I may well add as an appendix the first five chapters of an uncompleted book I wrote nearly 40 years ago on the subject of card tricks for beginners. I know Thomas Baxter. I may well be wrong but he doesn't seem the stooge type. David Alexander certainly was. It's quite possible David used a stooge or some other method. I don't know anything about this trick and have no particular interest in it. I am now halfway through the book annotations. I could do it more quickly but I get distracted by other activities that I have to do in order to have food with my meals.
