Oh well, the Genii Convention put a big enough dent into my "magic budget" to be able to get in on the pre-publication offer.

I'm very impressed with the amount of researching done by the individuals posting, I wouldn't have a clue where to begin. Will have to say I'm glad Bill clarified the card playing reference. Have to believe that card playing was a common practice to pass the time and socialize. Richard K, you mentio...

Gotta say Richard put on a hell of a party. Great talent in and out of the convention. Out meaning Asi Wind, Tom Gagnon, Mike Close among a bunch of others. Watching David Ben and Tom Gagnon session was inspiring. Great video crew too, very nice job. But most of all the close up shows WERE close up....

Just on the off chance that someone might need a ride. I have a ride coming to the Orlando Airport about 12:30pm and going to the Red Roof Inn by the convention center. If you need a ride and ready to leave at 12:30 let me know.

Years ago (mid-70's) I got to speak to Walter Gibson. He was telling a few tales of Houdini. At that point he mentioned "in today's world Houdini wouldn't be popular." Citing that no audience could sit still for 25 minutes waiting for someone to get out of a safe. It appears attention span...

Re: DVDs or video files

Thanks Bill. I do have a back up, but wanted to watch them a little more conveniently, as I usually store the drive away. Makes sense to put a lot more video files on a DVD, than spending time converting and only getting 1, maybe 2 on a disk. I've heard of Handbrake and also Flick, but files it is.

I'm going to try to clean up my hard drive and copy or convert the video files to DVDs. Would there be any advantage to converting the video files (mpg) to DVD files and then burn them?

Good luck, mine is about 1.5 years old and you won't believe the difference. Years of skydiving and martial arts took a toll. No one damaged a hip from practicing card magic. Good thing you quit smoking, a lot of my after surgery therapy was walking.

Seems to me that there was a mention of the Phantom in some magic column. I was thinking maybe Frank's column in Tannen's Magic Manuscript, but the show aired in 1980 and the Manuscript didn't start until 81. So possibly Genii?

I agree with Richard, wish he'd reprint the hardbound, but if he does he said it's not in the foreseeable future... The paperback, like the hardbound has enhanced photos and he said he's added some things. I'll have to look for one of Meir's hardbounds used I guess.
